Ariana Grande’s boyfriend Ethan Slater joined the SAG-AFTRA picket in New York City on Monday morning.
The 31-year-old actor waved a placard as he joined a group of protesters striking in between preparations for his Broadway return with Monty Python’s Spamalot.
He joined Ava star Jessica Chastain, 46, on the picket line as she fights, among other things, to protect actors from being replaced by artificial intelligence.
The SAG-AFTRA strike has been ongoing for more than three months since it began in the summer of July.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the Screen Actors Guild and Hollywood studios had suspended work after negotiations failed.
On Monday, advocating not crossing picket lines, Slater, known for his starring role as SpongeBob SquarePants in the musical of the same name, wore casual, comfortable clothing.
He was also seen holding a warm drink in one hand and a poster in the other.
Slater was seen walking alone with other protesters with a canvas bag in tow.
The singer prepared for a brisk morning by wearing a gray T-shirt underneath a black one in what looked like a show of support for the SAG-AFTRA strike.
He also wore a cozy fleece jacket, sweatpants and Vans sneakers.
He wore a gray baseball cap over his curly red hair.
Nearby, Chastain also wore “SAG-AFTRA ON Strike!” T-shirt as she held up a poster with the same design high.
She modeled dark gray jeans with distressed knees, paired with a black trench coat and leather boots.
She appeared to be chanting to encourage the protesters as she walked in line with the rest of the protesters.
She looked serious with huge sunglasses covering her eyes.
The SAG-AFTRA strike initially began on July 14, and although an agreement was negotiated for a short period of time, the protest has resumed and has now exceeded 90 days.
Last week, the union released a statement to its members confirming that they will continue to picket as major studios are unable to meet face-to-face with SAG-AFTRA.
“It is with deep disappointment that we report that industry leaders have walked away from the negotiating table after refusing to oppose our latest proposal,” it said in a press statement.
