Apple TV+ has not yet wanted to reveal the plot of The Savant and Jessica Chastain’s character details, but we know the miniseries – long 8 episodes – is inspired by a true story the journalist told about Andrew Stanley in his article published on Cosmopolitan in August 2019. The opening words of the article read: “You’ve never heard of it, but somewhere in America, a top secret investigator known as Savant is infiltrating groups of online haters to thwart men most violent in the country”. “Is it possible to prevent a mass shooting before it happens?” asked the reporter in the headline of the article.
Melissa James Gibson (Anatomy of a scandal, House of Cards) will be showrunner of the series and executive producer together with the director Matthew Heinemanto Chastain herself, to Kelly Carmichael, to the managing editor of Cosmopolitan Jessica Giles and Brian Madden of Hearst Magazines. Journalist Andrea Stanley will act as consultant.
