The five charities chosen by Johnny Depp are: The Make-A-Film Foundation, which allows seriously ill and dying children to write and direct their own short films; The Painted Turtle, which organizes summer camps in Lake Hughes, California, also for terminally ill children; Red Pen, which helps Native American communities support themselves and build safe homes; the Amazon Foundation Alliance, an alliance of non-profit organizations dedicated to protecting the indigenous peoples of the Amazon; The Tetiaroa Society, which is dedicated to protecting the Tetiaroa Atoll in the Society Islands archipelago in French Polynesia.

Johnny Depp’s libel lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard over an editorial published in the Washington Post in which the actress called herself “a public figure who epitomizes domestic violence” ended on June 1, 2022 in a substantial victory for Depp. A jury in Fairfax, Virginia found that Heard was required to pay her ex-husband $10 million. After a series of appeals that fell on deaf ears, Hurd settled out of court with Depp for a much smaller $1 million. However, the actress clarified that the plea deal “is not a guilty plea.”
