Anne Hathaway thought she would never be as good as Meryl Streep

It is only natural that anyone who works with a person of his caliber would be aware of this and would not feel worthy of working with him.
This is exactly what happened to Anne Hathaway. The actress gave an interview to the magazine Access, where she expressed the insecurities she felt while filming The Devil Wears Prada.
“It wouldn’t matter if I did 50 movies, she (Meryl Streep) is still the best actress in the whole world and I just had to calm down and say, okay, well, just accept it.” This. She will be better than you.”
She said her experience in the film industry didn’t seem to matter because it was nothing compared to Streep’s talent. She said she had to convince herself over and over again that it was okay, that Streep was the best, and that she wouldn’t be able to compete or live up to her skills.

Anne Hathaway then continued her conversation with Access on what made the Oscar-winning actress so good at her craft, adding that instead of focusing on the fact that Meryl Streep is better than her, she decided to learn from her. She stated that she learned many things, including that the actress’ approach to her roles was completely different from what she does.
“Just learn as much as you can and be as open to it as possible. And the great thing about Meryl as an actress, and what you always strive for, is that she is always at the very center of her character, the scene, everything she does. She is always completely in touch with the truth of what is. So when you do a scene with her, you kind of default to the same place, and so your level goes up a lot.”
She added that Streep remained at the center of the role she played, staying in character even when the cameras were off. Hathaway added that Streep was always aware of the character’s truth and thereby taught The Princess Diaries An actress has the same skills that help her improve in her craft and level of acting.
