Karan Johar’s Hindi Remake of ‘The Untouchables’ Gets New Director – Deadline

Indian filmmakers first acquired the remake rights from Gaumont almost a decade ago. In the original sensation film starring Omar Sy and Francois Cluzet, a young man from the project is hired by an aristocrat to be his guardian after he becomes paralyzed in a paragliding accident. The film spawned a number of remakes, including a Telugu and Tamil version, as well as a US version starring Kevin Hart.

According to the producers, the Hindi adaptation “aims to recreate the magic of the original while adding a unique touch that resonates with the Indian audience.”

The film is part of a larger creative collaboration announced in May 2023 between Johar’s Dharma Productions and Monga Kapoor’s Sikhya Entertainment.
