Former NBA champion and current media analyst Kendrick Perkins doesn’t think Michael Jordan is the best basketball player of all time.
The former Boston Celtics big man says LeBron James is the NBA’s GOAT, not the six-time Chicago Bulls icon.
Perkins appeared on First Take on Thursday and revealed his thoughts on the NBA GOAT debate.
He was joined by Stephen A Smith and Molly Qerim and detailed why he believes James has dethroned Jordan for the title.
Perkins said that James is 38 years old and is still a dominant player and playing at a high level, which Jordan has never done.
“That’s why LeBron James is the GOAT.
“Because your GOAT hasn’t done that at 38 years old,” Perkins said.
Perkins went on to explain that he believes the NBA and fans have been looking to replace James’ image of the league, and he continues to prove everyone wrong.
“We have been looking and trying to find a new person to take over as spokesperson for the league, but we have not been able to confirm that yet.
“You know why? Because LeBron James is still the face of the league. He proved that last night,” Perkins said.
The NBA X (formerly NBA Twitter) website was flooded with reactions and mixed reviews to Perkins’ comments.
Someone said: “For the first time, I 100% agree with Perk.”
Another said: “I agree, and it looks like LeBron has many more years to play.”
A third said: “The real GOAT doesn’t need to chase a ring at 38 because he already has one.”
Fourth: “Longevity GOAT. If Jordan had the same health care, he’d be there too.”
