The Phoenix Suns take on the Los Angeles Lakers in NBA preseason action Thursday night as the regular season gets underway. The two most notable players from both teams are, of course, the Suns’ Kevin Durant and the Lakers’ LeBron James, who spent time together at halfcourt shortly before Thursday’s game.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant have had their fair share of battles entire course Telling about their respective glorious NBA careers. The two first met in the 2012 NBA Finals playoffs, when James’ Miami Heat defeated Durant’s Oklahoma City Thunder in five games, earning James his first NBA championship.
Then, in 2017 and 2018, James’ Cleveland Cavaliers faced off against Durant’s Golden State Warriors, with the Warriors quickly taking back both series and Durant winning two Finals MVPs. The two haven’t met in the playoffs since James joined the Lakers and Durant was traded to the Suns a year ago. However, both teams are considered to be among the elite teams in the Western Conference in 2023-24, so another exciting matchup is certainly possible in the 2024 playoffs.
The Lakers are scheduled to open the regular season against the Denver Nuggets on October 24, while the Suns take on the Warriors later that night.
The Lakers and Suns will face off on October 26 in Los Angeles. As both stars enter the twilight years of their careers, NBA fans should always enjoy these matchups.
