Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers to become the player with the most regular season and playoff minutes in NBA history. James played 54,645 minutes in the regular season and 11,654 minutes in the playoffs, surpassing him.
It’s just the latest in a long list of milestones for James, who continues to perform at an extremely high level in his 21st season in the NBA. Of course, last February, James surpassed Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time scoring leader, and the legend personally paid tribute to LeBron at Crypto.com Arena.
The Lakers’ road trip is a special start for James. He returned to Cleveland for the first time and not only led the Lakers to a victory, but also opened his own new museum in his hometown of Akron.
Now, James is in Philadelphia and breaking another NBA record in his historic career. In his 21st season, James became the NBA’s all-time minutes and points leader while winning four championships, reaching the NBA Finals 10 times and winning four MVPs. Davis’ performance showed what he’s capable of when his teammates keep him consistent offensively. LeBron discussed the methods he believes will help achieve that goal.
“Yeah, I mean we have high expectations for AD. We want him to be aggressive offensively while anchoring our defense. Tonight was an AD game. Defensively, they have Jarrett ·Trees like Allen and Evan Mobley, I think AD does a great job on offense but also on defense and covering the glass when those guards are trying to get into the paint, trying to change their shot at the rim. And getting blocked shots and trying to clean the glass at the same time. So AD was big for us tonight.”
