LeBron James’ Porsche 918 Spyder is the rarest in his collection

As the highest-scoring and highest-paid player in NBA history, LeBron James has some pretty cool stuff.

Think of a crazy and expensive watch collection, and an entire fleet of supercars as just one of the ways he spends his billions.

But one of his supercars is rarer than all the others: the Porsche 918 Spyder.

This coveted and cool hybrid supercar is equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 607 horsepower and 528 Nm of peak torque.

With one electric motor on the front axle and another on the rear axle, its output of 279 horsepower is quite impressive.

The engine is made almost entirely of titanium and aluminum and weighs just 135 kilograms.

Frank-Steffen Walliser, who led the project, described it as “the best engine we’ve ever made”.

It has a top speed of 344 km/h (215 mph) and accelerates from 0-100 km/h/0-62 mph in just 2.6 seconds.

The 918 Spyder has removable roof panels instead of a regular fixed roof.

This luggage can be stored in the front cabin.

This allows the driver to fully appreciate the contrast between electric driving and switching to the power of the 4.6-liter V8 petrol engine.

While there are some odd things that increase the price of a Porsche, the rarity of this electric car increases its value.

Interestingly, only 918 were produced – and subsequently sold out in record time.

This means it is considered “part of automotive history”.

According to the brand, the car is “precision handcrafted by around 100 employees in a manufacturing facility built specifically for this purpose.”

Assembly of each vehicle apparently takes “approximately 100 hours” – again this level of dedication comes at a cost.

When launched in 2014, prices in Germany started at €768,026.

Today, you can buy this modern Porsche badge for over six figures (approximately $845,000).
