LeBron James says he doesn’t need motivation for next NBA season

LeBron James has won so much in 20 seasons in the NBA that this week he said he doesn’t need motivation heading into his sixth season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 19-time All-Star in the best basketball league in the world believes he has what it takes mentally to play and doesn’t need to look for extra motivation. He knows the team he has and knows they are ready for great things.

“I don’t feel motivated by opponents anymore. I don’t need it,” James said Saturday, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “I don’t want to say I’m not motivated to play because I Be motivated to fight the competition. I love competing against the best. But I don’t need a person or a team to motivate me. I am motivated. I am enough.”

The Lakers’ 2022-23 season ended at the hands of the Nuggets, who swept Los Angeles in four games to win the Western Conference Finals. The Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals to win their first championship in franchise history.

“We can be a very good team,” said James, who is entering his 21st season in the NBA.
