Jennifer Lopez usually wears high heels: stiletto pumps and maxi-platforms have been an integral part of her image for several decades, both on stage and in her spare time. However, even J.Lo sometimes needs comfortable shoes, and this summer she proves it by opting for flats.
Her last outfit, which she wore while shopping in Beverly Hills, consisted of baggy high-waisted jeans and Christian Louboutin model Galativi ballet flats in mesh with black suede toe and heel.
Mesh or mesh shoes like Lopez’s are the stars of summer 2023. Key pieces most sought after by trendsetters include Alaïa’s best-selling mesh fabric already worn by Jennifer Lawrence, a delicate Marcy gown with a plunging neckline by Khaite. and Stretch ballerinas from Bottega Veneta.
Jennifer Lopez’s mesh ballerina outfit is a departure from effortless minimalism, but in a sophisticated way: sheer mesh pairs with a black Wolford turtleneck top and baggy jeans, a gold Rolex watch, gold hoop earrings by Jennifer Fisher and a Birkin by Hermès.
Lopez, known for her ability to dance for hours in high heels, explained that her secret is to “change shoes to allow her feet to change posture and pressure points” and that platform heels “make a huge difference.” Wearing heels often, you realize how the plateau allows you to distribute your weight and posture so that all the pressure is not concentrated only on the arches of the feet, which usually causes pain.
This isn’t the first time Lopez, the queen of maximalism, has opted for a more understated look. In May, for example, she took inspiration from the modern minimalist trend by wearing black wide leg trousers and Chanel leather loafers. But while flat pumps may be the key to her recent off-duty style, something tells us she’s not planning on hanging wedges anytime soon.
