Luca Guadagnino really appreciates Superbad: this is what Challengers co-star Josh O’Connor says | Movie

Film partner Applicants (WATCH TRAILER) Josh O’Connoris the protagonist of a profile published in V Magazine, in which he reveals, among other things, that the director Luca Guadagnino really appreciate Very badacclaimed 2007 comedy film directed by Greg Mottolaproduced Judd Apatowwritten Seth Rogen And Evan Glodberg and plays Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Emma Stone AND Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

The actor tells the following from the pages of the magazine:

One night we were having dinner with Amy Pascal and Luca Guadagnino – we were all in Boston talking about our favorite movies together. The project was still at an early stage, and I remember thinking, “Oh my God, they will ask me about this too.” I wanted to come up with something artistic to impress Luka, and then something funny that wouldn’t make me look like a snob. I remember it was my turn and I mentioned Accatone, a brilliant but niche Italian film. Luca looked very impressed and I thought to myself, Bravo, Josh! But of course my favorite movie is Superbad, which made Amy very happy (the movie was released when she was the president of Sony Pictures, ed.). And Luca Guadagnino loves the Superbads—everyone loves the Superbads.

Then he adds:

I was later asked why I liked The Peppers so much, and you know, I think one of the good things about a movie like The Peppers is that I can watch it over and over again. And I’m not saying that Challengers is anything like Superbad, but I think he has similar potential. It could be one of those movies that you can watch forever because it evokes such strong emotions. It’s like a drug. Emotions drive you through the movie and it doesn’t feel long at all. You can’t take it that hard. For me, this is our greatest achievement, the fact that someone can come back and watch it again. I think it’s a very big compliment.

We remind you that the release of “Challengers” was postponed to April 2024 due to the strike of the actors.
