Inter Miami has reached an agreement with Uruguayan veteran Luis Suarez to join the Major League Soccer (MLS) club following his departure from Gremio in December, ESPN reported on Friday.
Although Suarez signed a two-year contract when he joined Gremio in December 2022, the two parties agreed in September that the 36-year-old Suarez would leave at the end of the Brazilian Serie A. He has made 31 appearances for the club this season, scoring 10 goals and 10 assists.
ESPN revealed that Suarez signed a one-year contract with Miami, which includes an option to extend for another year after signing the contract.
Suarez will join his old Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and, most importantly, Lionel Messi in the trip to Miami. In the 6 seasons from 2014 to 2020, Suarez played 283 games for Barcelona, scoring 195 goals and contributing 113 assists for the La Liga giants, helping Barcelona win 4 La Liga championships and 4 King Cups. championship and 1 UEFA Champions League title.

The attacking combination of Messi, Suarez and Neymar formed one of the most powerful trios in football history, despite only playing together for three seasons.
Suarez rose to prominence in Europe after scoring 111 goals and 68 assists for Ajax in four seasons from 2007 to 2011. In January 2011, Liverpool spent 26.5 million euros (approximately $28.5 million) to bring him to Anfield. Liverpool also attracted the attention of Barcelona, which spent 81.72 million euros (approximately $87.7 million) to sign him.
Suarez is also the historical scoring leader of the Uruguay national team. He played 137 times for the Uruguay national team and scored 68 goals. He represented his country in four World Cups, reaching the semifinals in South Africa in 2010.
