It was this dark character trait that led the Marvel Studios team to say: “We really have to respect what she does in the comics.” and display it on the big screen:
“And we always said, ‘This character is in our universe – we should really respect what she does in the comics because we think it will be fun. We think people will want to see it.”
Remembering the tragic events WandaVisionPalmer added: “To see where she goes after this (series), naturally it might be a darker place:”
WandaVision has been a wild ride for this character. So to see where she goes after this, naturally it might be a darker place. She may not be the happiest person in the world after this series, and we see the Most Powerful Being in the Universe dealing with the issue of happiness.”
The Marvel creative continued by revealing where Wanda ended up. Multiverse of Madness to Doctor Strange himself:
“That’s kind of the theme of our film. Doctor Strange also deals with the same thing: you saved the world. You sacrificed yourself for the greater good. But are you happy? That’s what all of our characters really care about. they have to compare, and this question drives them mad.
Wanda sees America as a chance to find happiness in the multiverse. And she’s the Scarlet Witch, so it’ll be hard to stop her from getting what she wants.”
Was Elizabeth Olsen’s role as a villain successful?
Now, more than a year later Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was originally released, viewers were given the opportunity to take a step back and try to analyze Elizabeth Olsen’s villainous role in the MCU.
At the time of release, a large group of fans were furious that this character was the baddest character. Doctor Strange sequels. Because of this, the film suffered greatly in the public consciousness (it currently has a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes).

Whether turning this antagonistic switch was successful is up to everyone to decide, but it’s hard to deny the speed with which it happened in the Sam Raimi-directed epic.
If audiences see Olsen’s Scarlet Witch again (since she appears to have died at the end Multiverse of Madness), it seems more than likely that she will have some explaining to do after her villainous antics in Doctor Strange sequels.
