Matthew McConaughey Says His Friend And Colleague Woody Harrelson Might Be His Real Brother!
After True Detective friends and colleagues Matthew McConaughey And Woody Harrelson will reunite for a new Apple TV+ comedy. The series will feature the actors – in fictional versions of themselves – as they bring their families to live under one roof on a Texan ranch. McConaughey recently announced on Kelly Ripa’s podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera that the series is called Brother From Another Mother. And it couldn’t be more ironic than that.
The title of the series refers to their long friendship, but the Oscar-winning actor has revealed that he’s considering having a DNA test because he believes Harrelson may be his real brother! It all started with a shocking revelation from McConaughey’s mother, who knew Harrelson’s father, perhaps intimately.
“You know, where I start and where he ends, and where he begins and I end, it’s always been a very fine line.”McConaughey told the podcast. “And that’s part of our friendship, right? My kids call him Uncle Woody. His children call me Uncle Matthew. They see pictures of us and my family believes he is me. His family thinks many of my photos are actually of him. In Greece, a few years ago, we sat and talked about how close we are and our families. My mom was there too and she says, ‘Woody, I knew your dad.’ That omission that occurred after that ‘I knew’… we all understood what it was about“.
The revelation prompted Matthew McConaughey to investigate his family history. He said: “We kept looking at what this ‘I knew’ meant and did some math and found that Woody’s father was on leave at the same time my mother and father were in their second divorce. Then there are several locations in Texas where there may have been a meeting between the two.”.
The actors have not yet decided to undergo a DNA test to obtain proof of a potential family connection between them. “It’s a little easier for Woody to say, ‘Come on, let’s do this,’ because what’s at stake for him? (Harrelson’s father was a serial killer, who died in prison in 2007 ed). It’s a little harder for me because he’s asking me to take the risk of saying, ‘Wait a minute, are you trying to tell me that my father might not be my father, after 53 years of believing that?’ I have a little more skin in the game.’ more than at stake”.
