Megan Thee Stallion loves collaborating with Cardi B because the rapper gives her creative freedom in her verses.
Megan Thee Stallion first teamed up with Cardi B for their raunchy 2020 hit “WAP,” and in September they reunited for their second collaboration, “Bongos.”
In an interview with Billboard, Megan explained that she enjoys jumping on Cardi’s tracks because the hip-hop star allows her to do whatever she wants.
“She literally just let me do it. This is the second time she sent me a song and I said, “Man, can I do whatever I want to the beat?” I’m going to put two verses in here, okay? She has always allowed me to creatively do whatever I want,” Megan Thee Stallion shared. “I love the creative freedom it gives me.”
Cardi, 31, also loves getting suggestions on how to improve the song overall.
“She’ll ask me what I think about the song, like, ‘Okay, how do you think we could make it better?’ What should we do next? Just do whatever you want and then we’ll put it all together,” Megan Thee Stallion explained. “She is always open to anything I say or any suggestion, so I like that about her. She’s not afraid to try anything and her ego is small. She is not a woman who is afraid to say, “You’re right.” So I really like that about her work.”
The duo performed “Bongos” live for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in September.
