Megan Thee Stallion will finance her new album herself.
The 28-year-old rapper released her previous records, 2020’s “Good News” and 2022’s “Traumazine” on 300 Entertainment and 1501 Certified, but she told fans that she no longer has a record deal, so she will be releasing her next record on one’s own.
Speaking on Instagram Live, she said: “This part of my album is definitely very Megan Thee Stallion-funded because, you know… we’re trying to get off… y’all know what the tea is.
“But right now I don’t have a label and everything we do is funded out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pocket. The budget comes from me, the bastard Hot Girl Productions. This all comes straight from Megan Thee Stallion – Megan Thee Stallion’s brain, wallet… we’re in my pockets, beauties, so let’s make ours big.
“We’re really getting ready for our big event and I’m so excited. This is our first time doing something on our own since it was just me and my mom. I’m so excited because it’s literally just me until we sign with a new label. But I don’t want to sign with a new label right now because I just want to do it myself.”
Megan, who previously sued 1501 Certified Entertainment for allegedly trying to “interfere” with her control over her music and allegedly trying to keep her under her contract, recently hinted that her next album will mark a new chapter.
She told Billboard: “It’s definitely coming very soon. I’m very excited about this chapter of my life because I feel like I’m finally closing all the old chapters and now starting with a clean slate. Very fresh. very new. I think Thee Hotties will be delighted. I try different things. I have a lot of stuff that I’ve produced with Ju and some new producers.”
