The news reported on the “Bloomberg News” (and also taken up by the New York Post) which has Meta and its 10,000 layoffs as the protagonist would seem to be official. Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook parent company reportedly announced yesterday that it had launched a second round of layoffs among its employees. Specifically, the areas under discussion would be those of software engineering and graphics programming. However, among the fired there would also be members of the product team, employees who deal with games, the legal area and human resources, in addition to employees in roles related to finance. Also as reported on the site, through the words of an employee: «The situation could soon lead to a “Hunger Games”», the famous film with Jennifer Lawrence, in which the protagonists challenge each other in a fight for survival.
In fact, there are numerous reports from employees that have sparked quite a few controversies. Among these, the comment of a former Meta employee immediately made the rounds on the web who – according to what she herself published on Blind – was fired two days before going on maternity leave. After her, another wrote on LinkedIn that he got the bad news about her during her honeymoon — a marriage that starts with a bang — hers. The data reported by “Bloomberg News” would seem to be effective: Meta should in fact cut 4,000 jobs and another 6,000 within a few weeks.
