Michael B. Jordan enters health food retail with the launch of seaweed drink “Moss” – Black Enterprise

Jordan’s new brand is committed to sustainability and uses plastic-free packaging.


Actor Michael B. Jordan is getting into the health food retail world. The “Tenet” star has teamed up with his investment firm Outlier Society Ventures and a health food purveyor called Dr. SMood to officially launch a seaweed drink called Moss.

The 36-year-old’s brand will be available nationwide upon launch.

Statement issued and obtained by retail branch Braviti Read, “In a world where people are increasingly disconnected, Moss is turning to the ocean to restore balance to our lives.”

The statement continues: “Endless seawater is the ultimate source of refreshment, filled with primal potential to energize our bodies and minds. By harnessing the power of sea moss and blending it with organic juices, botanical extracts and herbs, Moss delivers New ready-to-drink formats offer refreshments straight from the ocean.”

According to brand details, Moss bills itself as healthy and delicious. Initial launches include pure mango, ginger and pomegranate. The formula is made up of “signature ingredients like seaweed, ashwagandha and ginseng to awaken the senses, boost energy and help us focus on the present moment”.

Through reverse osmosis, “Moss is committed to creating a wave of wellness and believes that the well-being of individuals and communities is inextricably linked to the health of the planet,” the brand statement said.

Moss ingredients are all natural and healthy. For example, the ingredients in the pomegranate flavor are “organic pomegranate juice concentrate, organic blackcurrant essence, organic hibiscus extract, organic orange extract and organic monk fruit.”

Jordan’s new brand is committed to sustainability and uses plastic-free packaging that is verified by Oceanic Global’s Blue Standard. In addition, Moss has committed more than $25,000 to organizations working to protect the Earth’s oceans and the communities that surround them.

Some of these organizations include Intersxtn Surf, Pacific Town Club, Tea Party for Black Girls and Oceanic Global.

The products can be purchased from the company’s website, Amazon and brick-and-mortar health food retailers.
