The third night of the NAACP Image Awards celebrates work in television and film.
Night three of the 55th annual NAACP Image Awards virtual experience concluded Wednesday with the announcement of the third round of winners in the non-televised award categories.Celebrities like Michael B. Jordan and Michelle Buteauand the musical film The Color Purple were the big winners of the night. Categories include Outstanding Documentary, Independent Film and Ensemble Cast in a Film, among others.
“The Color Purple” won best film ensemble, and Netflix’s “High on the Hog: How African-American Food Transformed America” won best television documentary. Jordan won the Outstanding Guest Guest Award for his guest appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” while Butteau won the Outstanding Creative Breakthrough Award in Television for his hilarious Netflix series “The Thick of It.”
Sherri Shepherd hosted an awards dinner and event on Thursday, followed by a fashion show hosted by Brandee Evans on Friday to celebrate Black excellence.
The 55th NAACP Image Awards, hosted by Queen Latifah, will premiere live on Saturday, March 16 at 8pm ET/PT on BET and CBS.
