Michael B. Jordan sometimes feels lonely.
The 37-year-old actor opened up about the impact his unique position in the spotlight has had on him during Monday’s episode of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast.
“I had a sense of isolation. The responsibility you carry is isolating and the weight is isolating,” he noted in Us Weekly . “The worst part is feeling like no one really understands. Sometimes you get stuck in a lonely space and feel alone.”
Jordan spoke with host Shetty about his life and career, including his childhood, his goals, how he strives to be better every day, and whether he wants to change his isolation.
“I oscillate between wanting a partner and not knowing what the best partner is for me,” he said, adding that letting a woman into his life “wasn’t easy.”
“It’s not just ‘I love you and you love me,'” he explained, noting that he felt like that should be enough but knew it wasn’t “that simple.”
The “Tenet” star said the right partner will “understand what I’m all about and everything I have.”
Some of the factors that came with that included his demanding career, which he said created a situation where “I wanted to both be there for that person and be there for that person while I was juggling other things. balance”.
He admitted that it was difficult for him to step away from work and focus on relationships, noting that relationships require “sacrifice” and “compromise.”

Part of his reluctance to cooperate also stems from his living situation. The “Wakanda Forever” actor explained that because he’s so focused on his career, he hasn’t really “lived” his life, which includes traveling just for fun.
“I’ve got to start living. I’ve made sacrifices and I’ve been focused for a long time,” he said.
Jordan confirmed that although he wants a family, including children, he is not currently looking for a partner; however, I guess, “it takes a very special person to understand me and grow with me.”
“We’ll see what happens,” the actor joked.
While Jordan has mostly dated in his private life, his most public and confirmed romance to date is with Steve Harvey’s daughter Lori Harvey. Jordan and Harvey split in June 2022 after a year and a half together.
