Michael Jordan | Obituary | Advantage News Network

Michael W. “Mike” Jordan passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his home. He was 83 years old.

Born January 21, 1940 in St. Louis, son of Michael William “Bill” and Sylvia Jordan (Helverson)

A U.S. Army veteran, Mike worked for Shell Oil Company for 10 years and later for 35 years at Olin. He has been a proud member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) since 1968, a member of the Amateur Claymore Shooting Association (ATA) and the Gillespie Brittany Shooting Park. Mike is a world-class shotgun shooter. He’s the Michael Jordan of shooting — his “shooting percentage” is even better than that of taller men. He is inducted into the Illinois and ATA Halls of Fame. Mike won two cars in one year for shooting and was on the cover of Trap and Field magazine at least twice during his career. In addition to shooting, Mike is an avid fisherman and golfer. He traveled all over the country doing what he loved, but his two favorite places were Odessa, Florida, where he and Julie spent the winter with countless friends, and Sparta, Illinois, near His family and Moreau’s home.

Survivors include his son, Tyler M Jordan and his family, Gen Jordan and Kirk Starns of Zephyrhills, Florida; sister Mary (Mel) Brass of Moro; brother David Jordan of Rosewood Heights; several nieces and nephews; and his loving life partner Julia Vitali Julia Vitalie and her children Jon, Jamie and Jacole, and her grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Michelle Jordan; brother, William Jordan; and daughter, Jennifer, of Julia.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 5th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Paynic Home for Funerals.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brittany Shooting Park Hall of Fame Building or to the Youth Shooting Program.
