Michael Jordan takes to the court in Jordan’s new “Beyond” campaign

39 years ago, Jordan put his namesake shoe on the map and inspired people on and off the basketball court.

Michael Jordan, the NBA legend for whom Nike created the first Air Jordan shoe in 1984, makes a triumphant return to the game in a new Jordan campaign called “Beyond.”

In the film, Jordan and the young man reached an agreement in an indoor basketball court in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. According to a description of the ad on YouTube, the piece aims to spread joy and hope for “a future we long to see and be a part of.”

“(Thirty-nine) years ago, a young Michael Jordan played his first NBA preseason game. He wore newly designed shoes on the court. He knew it was against NBA rules. He didn’t care. Because he Know that with this shoe, his legend will take off,” Jordan Brand Chief Marketing Officer Shannon Watkins wrote in a LinkedIn post.

“(Thirty-nine) years later, as MJ “Pulls Up” with Jordan, a sports and entertainment icon, we let the cameras roll to show “Next Up” that the first step to taking off is believing you can… .When you do that, no place is out of reach.”
