Michael Jordan’s $80 Million Superyacht Weekly Maintenance Cost

When you’re the richest athlete in the world (aka Michael Jordan), you can buy almost anything you want.

From a $3.5 million supercar to an ultra-rare watch worth $155,000 to a $14.8 million Chicago mansion – the list goes on.

But one of Jordan’s most expensive single purchases to date is an $80 million superyacht called “Joy.”

This isn’t the only one he owns, the former NBA star also spent $21 million on a superyacht named “Mr.” Bad’.

Back to the superyacht Joy that Jordan purchased in 2016.

Michael Jordan was first spotted aboard a superyacht en route to the Caribbean island of St. Barthélemy with some of his closest friends.

At 230 feet long and nearly 10 feet in silhouette, it’s fair to say it’s hard to miss.

The vessel has a top speed of 16 knots (29 km/h/18 mph) and a cruising speed of 12 knots (22 km/h/13 mph).

Its superstructure is made of aluminum, the decks are made of teak, and the entire boat is insulated with glass aluminum to adapt to the changing weather.

Michael Jordan named this superyacht “Joy” for a good reason.

It has almost everything a star could want and need.

The ship has five decks, eight cabins, an indoor Jacuzzi, a cinema, a spa and a stunning restaurant.

But perhaps one of the yacht’s greatest perks is the owner’s pavilion, where you’ll find the yacht’s penthouse suite, personal office and a terrace with one of the best views of the sea.

A gym and indoor basketball court keep Michael Jordan occupied when he wants to stay active on his yacht.

But as you can imagine, the Joy definitely doesn’t come cheap when it comes to maintenance.

She requires about 19 crew members working 24/7 and has weekly maintenance costs of up to $800,000, according to Marca.

Luckily, this superyacht isn’t just for Michael Jordan and/or his friends and family.

In fact, anyone can rent a Joy for a week—all you need is $840,000.
