Miley Cyrus is “on fire“. The American artist who returned with the hit “Flowers” is also getting lots of new certifications for her music archive.
2023 is undoubtedly the year of Miley Cyrus.
The pop star started the year by breaking streaming records and hitting her biggest hit song ever with “Flowers” off her new album “Endless Summer Vacation” which is about to record the best first week commercial performance in the last years.
Also, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently announced several updates to the already best-selling Miley Cyrus catalogue.
Party In The USA 12x platinum, is a record
On the same day as Cyrus’ new album, March 10, the RIAA confirmed 12x Platinum recognition for the 2009 hit “Party in the USA.” This not only represents the star’s biggest certified hit, but also the third most certified track by a female artist, alongside Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas” and Katy Perry’s “Firework.”
Only “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X, “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee, “God’s Plan” by Drake, “Closer” by the Chainsmokers, “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line, “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye, Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” John Legend’s “All of Me,” Post’s “Congratulations,” and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” earned higher certifications than the hits of Miley, Katy, and Mariah.
In addition to the “Party in the USA” certification, the RIAA has also updated Miley Cyrus’ catalog, recognizing additional certifications for her most successful hits. In total, the star’s catalog sold over 47 million copies in the United States, not counting the certifications obtained under the name “Hannah Montana”.
