Ministers work together to prevent coastal bird flu

Leandro Cavaco, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Industry and Commerce of Chubut Province, chaired a meeting on Wednesday morning to discuss the issue of avian influenza in the region.

The meeting was well attended and focused on the situation of coastal fauna, including the case of the towns of Gaiman and Trewelyn.

In addition, the unusual behavior of viruses affecting marine animals was analyzed.

Cavaco highlighted the ongoing collaboration with the Minister of Tourism and Health and representatives of the private tourism sector.

The importance of informing the population about the current situation and conducting preventive campaigns to raise awareness of the need to comply with the Protocol and restrictive measures was stressed.

During the meeting, the Punta Tombo situation was discussed in particular as a more complex case. The meeting agreed to adjust existing protocols to keep wildlife and visitors safe. Good understanding and coordination between the different entities involved in this task were emphasized.

No new measures have been announced so far, but specific protocols for Punta Tombo are expected to be finalized at next week’s meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

Joint cooperation with municipalities and port authorities remains a priority in this prevention process.
