Ministry of Agriculture to revise order establishing bird flu protection measures

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food published a draft order amending Order No. APA/2442/2006 issued on July 27, which provides for specific protective measures related to avian influenza, in order to provide appropriate opinions or recommendations.

As they explained, Order APA/2442/2006 of 27 July provides for specific protective measures against avian influenza, including specific biosecurity measures in swamps, riverbanks, coastal or lake zones and any other areas. Wetlands are considered areas at special risk for the introduction of avian influenza as listed in Annex 1, as well as risk factors listed in Articles 3 and 4.

“Since the date of last modification, New information has been obtained on the existence of gathering places for wild birds and their migration routes, necessitating a review of the included wetlands. See Attachment 1 to the order. Therefore, it is necessary to amend Annex I of Order APA/2442/2006 to update special risk wetlands,” they noted.
