More than 315,000 people vaccinated against flu and Covid-19 in first week

FThe Government has revealed for the second quarter that 316,339 doses of the Covid-19 flu vaccine were administered in the first week of this season’s vaccination campaign alone.

A total of 255,839 doses of vaccine have been administered in community pharmacies and 60,500 doses have been administered in health centres.

“These figures indicate an increase of more than 50% in the number of vaccines administered during the same period in 2022. In the first week of last year’s vaccination campaign (which did not start in September), 190,785 doses of COVID+ influenza vaccine were administered,” the administration revealed in a statement posted on its official website.

Nearly 80% of the total number of vaccinations is based on data on combined vaccination (Covid + influenza), which is “consistent” with values obtained during last year’s seasonal vaccination campaign.

From October 2 to 4 (the second to the fourth day), “the daily rhythm reached 750,000 to 80,000 doses per day.”

According to the plan, also “vacinação nos lares já começou”. “Once a patient has been vaccinated with a specific vaccine, vaccination records allow us to confirm that more than 3,000 patients have been vaccinated,” he added in the note.

We will cover the entire Portuguese territory with more than 10.4 million influenza vaccines, more than 55% of the estimated population needed to vaccinate.

It is expected that “most of the remaining flu vaccines will be released by the end of October.”
