MTV VMA 2023: Shakira to receive MTV Video Vanguard Award

Shakira will receive the coveted Video Vanguard Award from MTV, marking the first time that the award has been given to a South American artist.

Shakira will accept the award and perform on the MTV stage for the first time in 17 years at the 2023 VMAs, which will be broadcast live from the Prudential Center on the night of September 12-13.

The four-time VMA winner, who brought home her first Moon Persona in 2002 for International Viewers’ Choice (North Latin America), received four nominations this year for Best Collaboration, Best Latino (x2) and the coveted “Artist of the Year”
