What the fast-fashion giants have in common H&M and the French fashion house founded by Thierry Mugler? At first glance, perhaps very little, but if you dig deeper, both had and still have a pioneering approach to fashion.
With the body positivity of Mugler, avant-garde and haute couture fashion shows, in the exaltation of a visionary, futuristic, essential beauty, we had a taste of a new idea of sexyness. On the other hand, H&M has also been strongly pioneering in its field of operation, making itself known throughout its creative history thanks to numerous collaborations with leading designers such as KENZO, Maison Margiela, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld and Versace.
Continuing with its line of collaborative projects with fashion houses, the fast fashion giant has announced in the last few hours the partnership with Muglermade up of structured silhouettes, square shoulders, attention to the waist, in a proposal that ranges from clubbing to tailoring.
The brand of French origin, whose garments have been worn by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Cardi B and Kylie Minogue, has certainly gained a large share of popularity in recent years, as well as H&M, which has attracted over the past seasons numerous buyers willing to endure hours of queuing to grab the items of their exclusive collaborations: we can therefore expect a similar level of interest for the debut of the new partnership collection.
Following the photographic campaign, the music video produced by the duo Torso in which they appear ShygirlArk, Eartheater, Sora Choi, Imaan Hammam e Mariacarla Bosconowe can get an idea of what this drop will mean for all lovers of the Mugler lines.
First of all, it should be noted that there are two lines on which the collection will focus, and the first to talk about is the denim proposal. Stitched and sinuous jeans, recalling the spiral pannelled of the French maison, or cropped proposals for men, and super empowering for the woman with a wasp waist and powerful shoulders.
The importance of menswear is central to this partnership since, in Mugler’s main proposal, it has been somewhat neglected, and therefore a more casual line will also be released for him and one that looks to tailoring, as can be glimpsed from the all-leather look.
The women’s proposal, on the other hand, stands out in the corsetry of yesteryear, the short cutout dresses, fluorescent sheath dresses, or embellished with crystals. The iconic catsuit, on the other hand, comes in a single piece, remaining, for the rest, completely faithful to the original. Finally, it is interesting to note the hoodies, which blend streetwear elements with the classic lines of corsetry.
The collaborative line curated by Casey Cadwallader will be officially available starting fromMay 11th.
