One such memorable and controversial incident may have occurred on the set of the 2021 film. Speaking of the comedy scene, Ryan Reynolds couldn’t stop laughing while filming a scene with Salma Hayek and they had to fall.

When Ryan Reynolds couldn’t stop laughing

During the filming of the 2021 film, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson’s cop bromance became a major part of the film. With Salma Hayek playing the role of Sonya Kincaid (Jackson’s character’s wife), the trio had to save the world by going after the terrorist organization responsible.

During one scene when they are captured by the FBI, three characters are knocked out by darts, rendering them unconscious. Salma Hayek reported that Ryan Reynolds couldn’t stop laughing because he had to fall on Hayek’s back for comedic effect. In an interview, Yahoo! Entertainment reported that Hayek talked about refusing to film that particular scene and hired stunt doubles instead!

“Mr. Reynolds just starts laughing before we even start shooting, he just loses his cool right before ‘Action!’ And we’re like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ And he (laughs some more) and starts describing how he sees this scene (and) what’s going to happen when we start falling over from the darts.”

She further continued:

“And we laughed for a long time, and Sam laughed very loudly. And then suddenly we said, “Yeah, this is great.” … Let (the stuntmen) do it. It’s not dangerous, it’s just a really compromising position, the way we fall.”

Ryan Reynolds further clarified the situation by stating: “My head falls straight into Salma’s ass.” to which Salma Hayek added “And my face falls right into Sam’s crotch.” Although Reynolds joked about the situations, the actor has been especially cautious since revealing that he has suffered from anxiety throughout his life.

If we put aside all the jokes and façade, Dead Pool the star said in an interview with the magazine in 2022 CBS News that every time he was met on stage, he felt that he would die there. Speaking about his mental health issues, Reynolds revealed that he has suffered from anxiety all his life!

“Yes, I really have suffered from anxiety all my life. And you know, I feel like I have two parts of my personality, one of which takes over when this happens. Before, when I went on stage, like Letterman, I was nervous. But I remember standing backstage before the curtain even opened and thinking to myself, “I’m going to die.” I’m literally going to die here.”

Well, Reynolds seems to be doing okay since he went public with his mental health issues. As for the 2022 film, Bodyguard of the Hitman’s Wife received a rating of 6.1 out of 10 on IMDB and a minimum of 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is available for rental on Apple TV+ in the US.
