NBA star LeBron James makes rare plea to Travis and Jason Kelce

In the podcast world, well-known NFL brothers Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles have gained popularity with their New Heights show. So much so that the two have had high-profile guests on their podcast, including past Super Bowl champions.

But now, on Wednesday, another superstar in a billion-dollar industry made a rare plea to the brothers: NBA icon LeBron James.

LeBron James wonders why he wasn’t invited to ‘next level’

Four-time NBA champion James contacted the podcast account via X (formerly Twitter) with a question: wondering why he hadn’t been invited yet.

“That’s crazy, I didn’t get an invitation to your amazing show! Is it because you guys are really the king of Northeast Ohio and I claim to be? Honestly!” James asked.

Still, I shared that he was a fan of both Super Bowl champions.

James isn’t really one to ask to be interviewed by someone. There have been virtually no reports of him requesting a one-on-one chat with an ESPN reporter, Fox Sports or any other outlet. Often it’s the opposite, as the network makes requests to talk to him. If anything, he’s sometimes had one-on-ones with NBA insider Chris Haynes during or after games, or directly with ESPN’s Adrian Waugh Chat with Adrian Wojnarowski.

But New Heights clearly did something to win over James.

James shares Ohio connection with famous brother

Maybe there’s a reason James loves podcasts. It’s from the same state as the Kells brothers.

While sports fans know James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio, he does have a long-standing Cleveland connection to the Kelce brothers.

Before becoming famous in the NFL, both brothers grew up in Cleveland Heights. They then don University of Cincinnati apparel and stay in-state to continue their college careers.

Perhaps for James, this is an opportunity to put three famous athletes from Ohio in a show. Best believes that as the popularity of “New Heights” continues to grow, if the Kelseys invite James to appear, the show’s traffic and downloads may increase.
