NBA veterans reject Michael Jordan and LeBron James’ long-running ‘GOAT’ debate for two reasons

Even though the NBA may be on hiatus, fans can’t stop choosing a side between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. The trend is so powerful that basketball podcast hosts and interviewers have made a habit of forcing guests to choose one of two icons. However, that doesn’t hold true for former Portland Trail Blazers star Damon Stoudemire, who gave a unique set of reasons why this debate is unnecessary. Well, this happens too often. Furthermore, it’s surprising that Stoudemire shied away from answering despite playing with the King and his Airmen.

But that was one of the reasons he knew they were different. Stoudemire was asked to choose between LeBron James and Jordan, but he responded: “While they really just want to know a debate, I don’t really debate it. You know, they argue, you know more about Michael Jordan than LeBron, you know, because, that’s what they know about LeBron… but My thing is, I just don’t argue about it.” It’s not that he doesn’t want to participate, but he has his own reasons.

Stoudemire revealed, “Number one, I think they’re different players… Number two is, I think it’s a different era of basketball. “Every era changes.”. Still, Stoudemire didn’t hesitate to let the NBA scoring champion have the upper hand in one area.

Stoudemire gives LeBron James slight edge in GOAT debate

While Stoudemire was hesitant to pick a player, the host decided to ask if LeBron James could survive the Jordan era. “easily”, no doubt about it, said the Trail Blazers icon. This is another aspect of the debate that is often contentious. “Can LeBron James maintain the physical attributes of the 1990s NBA?”. Stoudemire shared, “LeBron is big as hell”. When it comes to physical fitness in the 1990s, netizens have always ignored this Lakers superstar.

Stoudemire, however, knows best. ROTY in 1996 played against Jordan and James. On top of that, he coached in the NCAA and later the NBA. The 50-year-old was an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics until last season. Stoudemire made it clear that James can go both ways, in the modern and old eras, but can Michael Jordan?
