Coco Gauff has been showing us her skills in this sport for a while now. While she’s one of the best players on tour right now, Gauff has faced situations where she hasn’t been able to perform at her best. However, she always returns to her old self eventually. We saw this recently in the first round of the Indian Wells Masters, where she pulled off a great comeback.

The entire tennis world loved her performance, including Serena Williams’ former coach, who later took to her social media pages to praise her and post an uplifting message.

Gauff faced Clara Brel in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open. The match started with a surprising performance as Breer took the first set 6-2 over Gauff. However, the result didn’t go his way for Gauff, who then took the second set 6-3. The final was a hard-fought game that went into a tie-break, which the American star won.

Serena Williams’ former coach Rennae Stubbs was impressed by the scene, writing: “Gotta hand it to @CocoGauff, she found a way. There are a lot of players that can learn a lot from her. She struggled in many departments today, but she never gave up, which is often more important than a perfect shot! ❤️ And calmness makes a difference!“

Stubbs also believed Gauff was struggling earlier this year. While she is disappointed with her results, she believes she will play better when she gets on the American hard courts.

Rennae Stubbs puts faith in Coco Gauff

During a recent episode of Racquet’s Rennae Stubbs Podcast, the 52-year-old Australian coach addressed Coco Gauff’s recent troubles. While Stubbs admits her recent performance hasn’t been as good as it could have been, she’s certain she’ll do better at home. Stubbs said, “You know, obviously having her back in the States, in Indian Wells and Miami, she’s going to have tremendous support. So that does help. She’s playing really well with the support.“

She said with people in the Middle East mainly focused on work, it was difficult for players to get support heading into the latter stages of the tournament. She further believes that Gauff performs better with support and the Sunshine Doubles will do wonders for her performance.

Stubbs was right so far, and Goff won the first round in a landslide. Now, she will look to get another win against Lucia Bronzetti.
