Universal Pictures has released a featurette about Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Oppenheimer, dedicated to the scientist who created the atomic bomb.
In the past few hours, a new short film about the creation of Oppenheimerlong awaited new movie Christopher Nolan dedicated to the figure of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who invented the atomic bomb. In the six-and-a-half-minute video, Nolan explains how he had long been interested in this story, and how he later learned that the scientists involved in the first tests were aware of the risks of global destruction, but nevertheless “pushed the button.”
The director then explains in the video how important realism was to truly transport viewers to that period of history. Nolan, in particular, talks about the importance of shooting in IMAX format, and above all about how to limit the use of special effects as much as possible, realizing every scene from life. A film based on the biographical book by Kai Byrd and Martin J. Sherwin. American Prometheus: Triumph and Tragedy by J. Robert Oppenheimer, a Pulitzer Prize winner, tells the true story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and Project Prometheus, and the paradox of a man who risked destroying the world to save it. The screenplay is the work of Nolan himself, relying for the first time on a Universal production rather than that of his historic rival Warner Bros.
The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Matt Damon plays General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, the founding commissioner of the US Atomic Energy Commission.
Florence Pugh plays psychiatrist Jean Tetlock, Benny Safdie plays theoretical physicist Edward Teller, Michael Angarano plays Robert Serber, and Josh Hartnett plays American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence. Then come Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Dane DeHaan, Dylan Arnold, David Kramholtz, Alden Ehrenreich and Matthew Modine.
Italian theatrical release Oppenheimer scheduled for August 23 next year.
