Dr. Espinosa said that the Ministry of Health is formulating an intensive and comprehensive day to control the disease in Nuevo Segovia; which includes door-to-door sensitization, reduction, fumigation, elimination of breeding sites of Aedes aegypti (the transmitting mosquito) ; and implements clean-up days of the Kalash program in neighborhoods and communities in the department’s 12 municipalities.
We will continue to intensify all these activities, he added; therefore, he issued an urgent appeal to those who are not allowed to enter their homes.
Fighting dengue fever in Nueva Segovia
“Those who don’t want us to go in and inspect their homes, we have to change that attitude and mindset to stop dengue,” he reiterated.
He said that there is dengue virus transmission and positive cases in 12 cities of the department; therefore, they are conducting dengue tests every day to be able to show the spread of the disease in the department and be able to identify those patients who are positive, and provide them with better care.
In conclusion, the doctor insisted: “Together we can defeat dengue and we are getting there; however, more citizen participation is needed to raise awareness and awareness of the risks and dangers of having patients with fever at home.
