Inspired by the fake and exaggerated trailer present in Quentin Tarantino’s film “Grindhouse – death proof”, it is finally The shooting period of the new horror title “Thanksgiving” has begun. As in its first version of a few minutes, the direction is entrusted to Eli Roth, director, actor and screenwriter who became famous not only for his interpretations – just think of the character of the Jewish Bear in “Inglourious Basterds” by Tarantino himself – above all for his films inspired by the culture of slasher movies, gore and splatter. Among them we can mention names that have now fully entered the common imagination, such as “Cabin Fever” and above all “Hostel”, released in the now distant 2005.
The shooting announcement came unannounced on Twitter, with a behind-the-scenes photo taken on set attached. In it we can see the weapon that will be used by the killer – a fearsome ax – in his high voltage hunt; still nothing on the faces of the respective protagonists. Together with the photo also a curious caption which alludes to the traditional celebrations of “Thanksgiving Day” – celebrated in particular in the United States with a flashy turkey-based lunch – and which prepares future spectators with the disturbing warning: “there will be no leftovers”.
Set in the city of Plymouth, Massachusetts, the film will recreate the same ultra-violent atmospheres of the original trailer in which a killer dressed in black with a covered face sows panic among the inhabitants of the city by carrying out a horrendous carnage. All this together with a large dose of irony and strong quotations with a marked flavor of 70s genre cinema.
Although there are still no official images of the shooting are already known some names of the cast, which includes Patrick Dempsey, Nell Verlaque, Addison Rae, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Milo Manheim, Gabriel Davenport, Tomaso Sanelli, Jenna Warren, Gina Gershon, Tim Dillon, and Rick Hoffman. There screenplay is instead by Jeff Rendell. It will still take a little patience to find out more about this title which, if nothing else, will finally see the light after a wait of sixteen years and which promises heart-pounding emotions, but perhaps also a good explosion of laughter.
