Olivia’s close friend Rodrigo Tate McRae revealed the singer almost dropped the song from her new album Guts during an interview with Capital FM, which was released on Monday.

The 20-year-old songwriter recalled that Get Him Back! the songwriter was unsure about one of the tracks on his project and briefly considered not recording it.

The singer, whose friend recently shared a sultry bedroom snap, also said she was “so shocked” that the performer even considered leaving the track, which she said was one of her favorites, off the album.

McRae said Rodrigo was “a little unsure about releasing ‘Pretty Isn’t Pretty,’ one of my favorite songs on the album.”

The performer further stated that she was dumbfounded by her friend’s previous inclinations.

The news comes as Olivia’s close friend Rodrigo Tate McRae revealed that the singer almost kept the song from her new album Guts during an interview with Capital FM that was released on Monday; Rodrigo can be seen in September.

“I think it’s such a beautiful song and I was so shocked that she wasn’t going to release it,” she said.

McRae also talked about spending time with the 20-year-old Good 4 U singer and how they exchanged musical ideas while producing Guts.

She recalled: “Olivia would play these songs for me and be like, ‘God, I hate this, like, it’s so bad,’ and I’d be like, ‘Girl, what are you talking about? It’s amazing”.

The singer also spoke about the difficulties that songwriters often face when writing new tracks.

“It’s such an interesting thing because when songs are still in development, there are doubts like, ‘Is this a terrible song or is this a great song?’ Because you’re so biased,” she said.

Guts’ first single, Vampire, received a lot of attention from fans and critics in June this year when it reached the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The record’s second single, Bad Idea Right?, debuted the following month to similar success.

Ultimately, Guts was released on September 8th and was met with widespread criticism from reviewers.

Rodrigo is currently gearing up to promote his new album on his upcoming Guts World Tour, which kicks off at the Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California next February.

The singer will be supported by several bands, including The Breeders, PinkPantheress and Chappell Roan.

The hitmaker is set to wrap up his tour with a series of concerts at the Kia Forum in Inglewood next August.
