Marvel movies love Easter eggs, and fans might have thought Taika Waititi was having fun when he decided to pay homage to Dwayne Johnson in the movie Easter Eggs. Thor: Love and Thunder. The director previously mentioned that Korg’s partner is named Dwayne, so there is no doubt that he was inspired by the former wrestler.

Taika Waititi confirms Korg partner is a tribute to Dwayne Johnson
Director Taika Waititi announced this. tweet what fans saw in the final scene Thor: Love and Thunder was Korg’s boyfriend, Duane. He replied to the fan: “Not a coincidence, baby” to a photo of Dwayne wearing a long-sleeved brown shirt and gold jewelry. Korg and Duane’s role in the film was a scene with a happy ending. In the film’s story, Kronance can only conceive children by holding hands and singing over a fire. The duo were seen in the final montage performing said ritual over a volcano.
Waititi previously stated on Instagram Live that Korg’s origins will be revealed in the next episode. Thor: Love and Thunder. The director announced this via Comic:
“We’re touching on Korg culture. Where does he come from… if you look at the Kronan comics, I wonder where they came from.“
He also mentioned how his work explores queer romances, such as what Korg and Duane showed in the film through Outside.
“We’re all weird. I think just to different degrees of where we are on the (sexual) spectrum. I think that innately all people have some degree of weirdness.“
Besides Waititi’s Korg, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie is also a notable queer character in Thor franchise.

Thor VFX supervisor found Korg a complex character
Visual effects supervisor Jake Morrison once said that Taika Waititi sometimes makes his life difficult, especially when he spontaneously comes up with ideas that he wants to put into films. Morrison spoke about working on Korg via Comic:
“I’d say the only thing I learned about this is that when Taika discovered that he could just come up with new punchlines and punchlines in an editing suite, that’s when my life got a lot more complicated… You have to make them to form. a comedy that anyone will tell you, I think all actors would say that, drama is hard, but comedy is much more difficult“
Morrison noted that it was difficult to get the audience to laugh and believe the character, which was a 7-foot-6 monster made of 1,300 stones.
