LONG BEACH, Calif. , Oct. 16, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Carrara Media is proud to announce the release of its latest non-fiction title, The Cult of the GT-R: A True Story of Crime, Obsession, and the World’s Most Desirable Car, available now Now. . The new book explores the history and legacy of the era-defining sports car, both on and off the track, and how the GT-R became a global and cultural phenomenon, immortalized in movies, video games and street racing legends.

Following up on his 2019 documentary debut Slow Car Fast, author Ryan ZumMullen takes a look at the complex GT-R subculture to meet the enthusiasts and fanatics who move the needle in this community, from the US to Japan. Based on experience behind the wheel, in the passenger seat, and deep inside courthouses from California to Florida, the Cult of GT-R goes as fast as the street racers who have pushed the GT-R to its limits… and beyond.

Interested buyers can choose between two versions. The Standard Edition includes fifteen chapters of gripping history, personal experiences, and never-before-seen revelations about the GT-R underworld.

Second version – Cult of GT-R | Wangan Edition, limited to 250 pieces, each numbered and signed by the artist, with premium quality paper and exclusive cover art that pays tribute to the GT-R’s rare and iconic Midnight Purple color.

“There is no history in the automotive world quite like the Skyline GT-R,” ZumMullen said. “I am honored and excited to share the Cult of GT-R with this passionate fan base around the world.”

Over the course of a year, ZumMallen interviewed dozens of GT-R owners to find out the roots of their passion, including those willing to break the law and evade the regulators on their tail. He also traveled to Japan to visit iconic locations, meet local GT-R buyers and sellers, and learn from pillars of the community.

Helping bring the Cult of GT-R to life is a talented team of editors. They include journalism professor and music, food and culture writer Sarah Bennett (LA Weekly; Beer Paper LA) and automotive columnist and TV host Sam Smith (Road & Track; NBC’s Proving Grounds).
