prequel novel about Eddie Munson announced

Netflix has officially announced Flight of Icarus, the new novel written by the screenwriter of season 5 of Stranger Things, Caitlin Schneiderhanabout Eddie Munson, the character played by Joseph Quinn. The novel will be a prequel to season 4 and will tell how the character became the guide of the young protagonists in the series.

“The Eddie Munson we meet at the beginning of Stranger Things 4 is the protective shepherd of Hawkins High’s lost nerdy sheep. But wearing that cape wasn’t such an easy decision. I’m so excited for fans to join him on his journey to become a hero, to experience the messy and uncomfortable decisions that led him to become the brave misfit we all know and love.”

stated the Schneiderhan at Entertainment Weekly.

In the synopsis of the novel we can read:

“Hawkins, Indiana – for the most part, it’s just another idyllic, well-maintained all-American town but for Eddie Munson, it’s like living in an eternal tomb of horrors. Fortunately he will have to survive for a few more months at Hawkins High. And what is senior year, really, if not the time spent between Dungeons & Dragons sessions with the Hellfire Club and concerts with his band?

It is in the worst bar in town that Eddie meets Paige, someone who has performed an incredible miracle. She ran away from Hawkins and built a devilishly fantastic life working for a record producer in Los Angeles. Not only is she the definition of badass – with killer taste in music – she might be the only person who truly appreciates him as the bard he really is instead of the devil incarnate everyone assumes. But the best thing? He’s offering him the chance to do something for himself and all he has to do is get her a demo tape with the best songs from Corroded Coffin, his band.

The only problem is that you need money to register. Money Eddie doesn’t have. Eddie, however, is willing to do whatever it takes: even if that means relying on his father, Al Munson, just back in his life. Eddie knows that this is his only option to make enough money quickly. It’s a risk she has to take because if he pays it back, he’ll finally have a one-way ticket out of Hawkins.

Eddie feels it in his skin: 1984 will be his year.”
