The president of the United States has nominated 24 professionals from different sectors to the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, including George Clooney. Lady Gaga was named co-chair.
As stated in a statement from the White House, the president of the United States Joe Biden nominated 24 professionals from various fields to the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
Gaga and Bruce Cohen were elected co-chairs, while the remaining 22 were invited to become members, including: Jon Batiste, Constance M Carroll, George Clooney, Philip J Deloria, M Angélica Garcia, Jennifer Garner, Nora Halpern, Steve Israel, Marta Kauffman , Ricky Kirshner, Troy Kotsur, Katie McGrath, Laura Penn, Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya, Arnold Rampersad, Shonda Rhimes, Kimberly Richter Shirley, Horacio Sierra, Anna Deavere Smith, Joe Walsh, Kerry Washington and Pauline Yu.
Founded in 1982, the Committee includes public members, including the heads of federal agencies, and private individuals, including prominent artists, scholars, and philanthropists nominated by the President. The committee is being formed to give the president advice on cultural policy, private sector engagement, and “other efforts to enhance federal support for the arts, humanities, and museum and library services,” the statement said.
