Like IncMaster fan and current reality show host, Joel Madden admits that Season 15 will always have a special place in his heart – and for good reason.

In an exclusive interview with the magazine Us weekly For the episode of Reality Star of the Year, the Good Charlotte singer, 44, shared an unforgettable moment from filming that became his “favorite part of the season, selfishly.”

“I got a tattoo at the show this year. It was a surprise to me because I’ve always watched the show and wanted to get a tattoo, but the thought of getting a tattoo in front of everyone… it’s weird,” Madden says. Us. “But when they asked me if I would be involved, I said yes.”

While meeting the unnamed artist was “exciting,” Madden admits the experience was also “nerve-wracking.” “Getting a tattoo is a very personal thing between you and the tattoo artist,” Madden explains, “and it hurts when you do it. Doing it in front of the cameras was a new experience for me.”

Although the tattoo he got will be revealed soon enough (no spoilers!), Madden, who estimates he spent “150 hours” on the tattoo, reveals Us fresh ink makes a big difference to his childhood and siblings. Most importantly, Madden was pleased with the end result: “I was very happy with the tattoo.”

Fresh body art wasn’t the only perk this season for the musician—Madden couldn’t help but get excited watching the contestants give the contestants everything they’ve got.

“Watching these incredibly talented tattooers go through this labyrinth of competition with all these extremely difficult tasks and all these loops that are thrown at them, it really does make you feel like a really skilled tattoo artist,” Madden explains. “It keeps you on the hook because one week someone can have really good results and the next week they’re offered something that they’re just not good at as a tattoo artist and it could take them out of the competition.”

Madden admits that criticism is the hardest part of his job. “It’s very difficult for me because, in my opinion, any person, especially if he’s good enough to get into IncMaster “They are good tattooists,” he shares. “It’s hard to sit right in front of them and tell them you’re not a fan of that particular tattoo or the choice they made.”

However, finding flaws is the nature of the game. “Out of a bunch of good tattoos, we have to find the worst one, because at the end of every week, someone goes home,” says the rocker. Us. “There are weeks when it’s really hard because (the artists) didn’t do a bad job.”

“Season 15 is shaping up to be a memorable one,” says Madden. “If you are IncMaster Fan, you’ll probably meet your new favorite tattoo artists and true superstars,” he adds. “How IncMaster fan (me), I think this will be my favorite season.”
