Puerto Rican comedian ‘Yoyo Boing’ dies at 93

Puerto Rican comedian Luis Antonio Rivera, popularly known as “Yoyo Boing,” died on the afternoon of November 30 at the age of 93.

The daughter of the famous artist Inés Rivera confirmed that he died while in the Hospital del Maestro in San Juan, El Vocero reports.

So far, there has been no official word on the actor’s cause of death or when he was admitted to hospital.

‘Yoyo Boing’ recently spoke about his health

In July last year, he revealed details of his condition resulting from the incident in an interview with local outlet El Nuevo Día.

“As a result of the stroke, I can’t move my left side, have difficulty speaking, and can’t walk. I’ve lost my balance on both legs,” he said.

“To this day I don’t feel depressed because I am alive. If you realize, I am rational, I can remember a lot of things, but I want to be able to guide (driving), I would be happy,” he said.

The correspondent explained that he likes to “get in the cart” and “get out”: “I’m an amateur photographer and I have my little camera,” he said.

Regarding the moment when he will no longer exist, he said: “I hope to find many friends there. When that day comes, I will leave happy and contented. I know I will be warmly welcomed.”

‘Yoyo Boing’ thinks he’s ‘miraculously alive’

A few months ago, Yulianna Vargas of “I Know Everything” spoke with “Yoyo Boing,” who revealed that she had recently suffered from covid-19, bronchitis, and the flu.

“(The symptoms) are very scary because you feel like you’re going to die, but you don’t. So what’s that all about? You wake up and don’t want anything, and that’s how you spend your whole day,” He admits.

According to reporters, he believed he was “miraculously alive” due to the various illnesses he experienced.

“Everything hit me hard. For a while, I thought ‘I’ve gotten to this point,’ but God is so good and He said, ‘Not yet. ‘I’ll give you the bonus (gift of time) like this You can just stay there and be annoying,” he said.

In the hours after news broke of “Yoyo Boing’s” death, several celebrities expressed their feelings.

Singer Elvis Crespo wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “My sincerest condolences to the family of comedian and actor Luis Antonio Rivera.”

“(He) was one of the people who made me laugh the most during my childhood and teenage years when I saw him on Puerto Rican television. May he rest in peace and fill the sky with jokes,” he concluded.
