Rapper Rick Ross’ two buffaloes roam the city. Animals removed from their habitat for the whims of the stars

The American rapper Rick Ross is at the center of controversy: his two buffaloes have crossed the fences and invaded the streets Fayetteville, Georgiabetween parked cars, garbage cans and the surprise of local citizens.

The two animals they live on Ross’ property and they are causing great concern not only to its neighbors, but to the entire city. In fact it is not the first time that they have come out and on other occasions they have already climbed over the fence and invaded other properties, destroying any type of crop or garden.

After all, the city it is certainly not their natural habitat since they love to live in swampy areas, near rivers or ponds in which they immerse themselves peacefully to cool off. But the rapper has paid no attention to the ethology of the species and the two buffaloes aren’t even the only animals he has on his estate. In the prairie surrounding his residence, in fact, also live a bull and different horses.

The rapper responded to the controversy with a story on Instagram, without worrying too much about people’s protests: «When you see my buffaloes, give them a carrot or an apple. They are so kind, they are so peaceful. Thank you all for making sure my animals returned to the Promised Land… Thank you to all my neighbors, I wish you all the best.”

An unusual situation also for the county of Fayette where owning livestock is absolutely legal but where those who take care of them are also responsible for the proper containment of animals and if he proves negligent, he can be punished.

Ross last year also announced that he would buy four lions from Senegal and among the “stars”, unfortunately, it is neither the first nor the last ad have purchased animals that would be much better off in their natural habitat. Among the most famous inhabitants of unsuitable albeit spacious private areas in history are remembered Elvis Presley’s kangaroo and the Michael Jackson’s snake.

But even other modern “VIPs” do not hesitate to show this interest in “unconventional” species such as the Demi Lovato’s goat that the pop star only kept for a few months, never managing to receive the documents to be able to declare the animal “pet”. The same situation also happened to the monkey wanted by Justin Bieber.

Returning to the buffalo, it is a mammal belonging to the bovidae family and is an inhabitant of savannahs and forests in central and southern Africa. There are two types of this mighty animal: the Asian or Indian buffalo and the African buffalo, the strongest bovid in the world which unlike its Asian cousin, very docile and tameable, has a stronger character and is almost impossible to tame.

Buffaloes live in non-territorial groups and can form herds of hundreds of individuals. The most numerous include females, whilst the males form groups of 3-4 individuals on their own. The older ones isolate themselves from the herds and live alone.
