Rawson City Council and SENASA Issue Advisory for Avian Influenza

The City of Rawson, in conjunction with the National Agri-Food Sanitation and Quality Service (SENASA), issued an advisory on Saturday advising people to avoid contact with animals that may carry bird flu (H5N1) following two positive test results. Wolf pack sailors died off the coast near Playa UniĆ³n.

These recommendations include avoiding dogs on the beach, and vehicles entering or circulating on beaches or affected spaces.

In addition, it is recommended not to approach a sea lion specimen in its presence, and to avoid direct contact or approach by pets.

Avoiding approaching wild birds and not touching surfaces that may be contaminated with bird secretions are also mentioned as precautionary measures.

Furthermore, in this sense, the City of Rosen and SENASA request that direct contact should be avoided when animals are found to be stressed or dead. In view of this, it is requested to notify the relevant department or competent authority immediately.

For this purpose, residents and tourists can reportedly contact the WhatsApp number 280 4876347 (Minister of the Environment) or 11 5700 5704 (Senasa) in such situations.
