Jennifer Lawrence never considered herself smart
In a candid interview with 60 Minutes taken from the website CBS NewsLawrence admitted that she had problems in school because she never considered herself smart. However, she shared that despite all this, she feels good about the scripts and is very confident in this quality.
Lawrence shared, “I had a hard time at school. I never felt very smart. And when I read the script and feel like I know exactly what it would look like if someone thought that way, there was a whole part of my brain that I didn’t even know existed. It was something I could be confident in, and I didn’t want to let it go.”
Jennifer Lawrence on her decision to drop out of high school
Despite being confident in her acting abilities, the high school student finds it extremely difficult to convince her parents to let her drop out of high school. Lawrence was no exception to this rule, she shared: “It’s so hard to explain, it was just this overwhelming feeling of ‘I understand.’ This is what I had to do.” And to make people try to understand that when you’re 14 years old and you want to quit school and do this and your parents are just like, “You’re crazy.”
Lawrence added that since she dropped out of school, she does not have a GED or high school diploma and was self-taught. “I dropped out of high school. Technically, I don’t have a high school education or diploma. I’m self-taught”.
Today, more than ten years after this fateful decision, Jennifer Lawrence remains true to her choice. “I wanted to forge my own path. I found what I wanted to do and I didn’t want anything to get in the way of it,” she explained. While her path may be unconventional, her success and passion are undoubtedly remarkable, demonstrating her true passion for acting.
