The film, based on Arthur Schnitzler’s novel of the same name, has received five nominations for the 2023 Silver Ribbon Awards, including one for Best Picture, and boasts a large cast that includes Tony Servillo, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Sara Serraiocco, Natalino Balasso, Alessandro Besentini, Bianca Panconi.

SYNOPSIS – Leo Bernardi is an established and established director at the end of his career who is not going to put up with his slow decline. In his latest work, Leo decided to tell Arthur Schnitzler’s Casanova, a character incredibly like him, more than he himself can imagine. The one Schnitzler talks about is Casanova, whose youth has already passed, the days of glory have passed: he no longer has his charm and his power over women, he no longer has a penny in his pocket, he no longer wants to address Europe. After years of exile, he has only one goal: to return to Venice, his home. On the way home, Casanova meets a girl, Marcolina, who rekindles a thirst for conquest that he hasn’t felt in years. Trying to seduce her, Casanova comes to the most tragic conclusion: he has grown old.

It is no coincidence that Leo Bernardi decided to tell this story right now, at a turning point in his life and career. The anxieties and doubts of these two are incredibly similar. What is more important: cinema or life? Continue to play as your character or allow yourself the surprises that Life brings you?

THE RETURN OF CASANOVA premieres on Sky on Sunday, August 27 at 9:15 pm on Sky Cinema Due (and also at 9:45 pm on Sky Cinema Drama), streaming NOW. On Sky, the film will be available on demand, as well as in 4K for Sky Q or Sky Glass customers with the Sky Cinema package and the Sky HD/Sky Ultra HD option active.
