“We were lazy,” they jokingly commented Rolling Stones we talk about our long-awaited new album “Hackney Diamonds” at a recent event inHackney Empire in London. The album also includes some very respectable collaborations with musicians of the caliber of Elton John (who plays piano on “Get Close” and on “Live by the Sword” itself) Stevie Wonder (on keyboards and piano for “Sweet Sounds of Heaven”), Paul McCartney (on bass in the song “Bite my head off”) and finally Lady Gaga (performs backing vocals on “Sweet Sounds of Heaven”).
Curiosity about the album
Interviewed Jimmy Fallon, Mick Jagger was able to explain the meaning of the album’s title (“In East London slang, Hackney diamonds are like broken windshield glass,” the British artist clarified), but he also explained how he and his colleagues were given last Valentine’s Day as the final date for the completion of work on an album whose release would have actually been delayed if the Covid-19 pandemic had not struck. On the same occasion, the band’s guitarist Keith Richards then a colleague remembered Watts (“He’s number four, and we miss him terribly”), explaining that the proposal was made by the late musician himself.
