Lots of goals on the second Saturday of the World Cup, and what a match from the Portuguese!

The second Saturday of the Rugby World Cup ended with three victories for Samoa, Wales and Ireland. However, while the top-ranked side dominated Tonga from start to finish – albeit with minimal effort – the other two matches were much less predictable than expected.
Chile once again made a good impression in a match characterized by many fouls and cards on both sides. The South Americans take the lead thanks to Dittus’ try, while the Islanders, who have surprisingly struggled in attack, rely on Lealiifano’s strikes. Then, in the finale, a flash to close the half 19-3 with a goal from Paiaaua. There is no story in the second half: Taumatain, Lee and Malolo score two goals each, and Samoa comes up with 5 points.

Wales, on the other hand, had to make an incredible effort to get the better of a brave and never tamed Portugal, who defended fiercely and always attacked from the hands. Gatland’s side only managed to settle the matter with time running out when they scored a bonus goal against Faletau in the final 28-8.
However, in Saturday night’s match, Ireland wear down and then break the stubborn resistance of Tonga, who hold on as long as they can against a team that dominates the match territorially, and finally take the lead in the final. Ireland win 59-16 from 8 tries, perhaps an excessive result considering what Tonga did, but which gives an idea of what the top-ranked players can achieve during this World Cup.
